Product Overview
The DABCOT12 organotin drying agent (dibutyl tin dilaurate, DBTDL) accelerates the urethane (polyol–isocyanate) reaction and is used in the production of flexible and rigid polyurethane foams, coatings, adhesives and sealants
In CASE applications, the DABCOT12 drying agent acts as a catalyst for the reaction between isocyanates and polyols to form polyurethanes, as well as for the secondary cross-linking reaction to form urea-formate and biurea bonds. Owing to the selectivity of the DABCOT 12 drying agent in polymerisation reactions, it has become the benchmark for polyurethane gel catalytic systems, including two-component adhesives and moisture-curing polyurethane coatings.
The DABCOT 12 coating drying agent is an organotin carboxylate that is prone to hydrolysis; therefore, for applications with a specific pot life, stability testing should first be carried out in the laboratory.

Recommendations for Use:
Application of DABCO T12 Organic Tin Catalyst in the Production of Rigid Polyurethane Foam
In applications where amine catalysts exhibit insufficient activity, the additional activity obtained through the synergistic combination of the DABCOT12 organic tin catalyst and the amine catalyst enables the required rapid catalysis. The DABCOT12 organotin catalyst is suitable for high-density structural foam, spray-applied rigid foam and rigid panels for sandwich panels. Even at low dosages as low as 0.1 pphp, the DABCOT12 organotin catalyst is particularly effective in promoting rapid gelation and achieving a short ‘no-stick’ time.
Applications of the DABCOT 12 organotin drying agent in polyurethane paints and coatings
The DABCOT 12 organotin drying agent can be used as a drying agent in both single-component moisture-curing coatings and two-component polyurea coatings, making it highly versatile. It is suitable for a wide range of polyurethane coatings.
Storage & Package
It is recommended that the organic tin catalyst DABCOT-12 be stored in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. All storage containers must be tightly sealed to prevent contact with water or other substances that may affect the product, as this could alter its performance in end-use applications. The optimum storage temperature is between 10°C and 30°C. Temperatures lower or higher than this range are unsuitable and should be avoided wherever possible.
