ONE-component Polyurethane Adhesive

One-component polyurethane adhesive is a type of adhesive that is ready to use straight from the container, without the need for mixing with other components. It is commonly used in construction, automotive, and other industries for bonding various materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and concrete. One-component polyurethane adhesive cures through exposure to moisture in the air, forming a strong and durable bond. It is known for its high strength, flexibility, and resistance to water and temperature fluctuations.

Product Overview

The ONE-component Polyurethane Adhesive dispenses as a smooth, uniform paste with a mild odor, functioning as an advanced moisture-curing structural adhesive. Engineered to form permanent, unyielding bonds without the complexities of manual mixing, it is exceptionally suited for fast-paced field applications and high-speed production environments. This formulation operates through a precise moisture-initiated curing mechanism. As it is exposed to the atmosphere, isocyanate groups within the prepolymer react with ambient or substrate moisture to form dense urea linkages, gradually building structural strength over time.

Its single-package design eliminates costly mixing errors and significantly reduces material waste, ensuring consistent, predictable performance across every application. Crucially, the elastomeric formula guarantees exceptionally low curing shrinkage, maintaining strict dimensional stability for precision component assembly. Cured adhesives exhibit a tensile strength ≥8 MPa and an elongation at break ≥400%, alongside a broad service temperature range from -40°C to 90°C that accommodates extreme environmental fluctuations. It forms highly resilient elastic bonds capable of absorbing severe vibration and structural movement, excelling in dynamic applications where traditional rigid adhesives are prone to brittle failure.

Features

Universal Substrate Compatibility

This adhesive bonds effectively to diverse substrates without the need for specialized primers, establishing firm adhesion on mild steel, aluminum, glass, concrete, PVC, ABS, and treated wood. It achieves a remarkable peel strength ≥4 N/cm on polycarbonate and ≥6 N/cm on anodized aluminum, outperforming many standard one-component adhesives in multi-material bonding scenarios. Furthermore, it is specifically engineered for dissimilar material splicing. By effectively absorbing the differing coefficients of thermal expansion between metals and plastics, it prevents stress fractures. Its unique ability to wet low-energy surfaces reduces surface preparation requirements, simplifying application in field settings where extensive pretreatment is physically impractical.

Weather and Chemical Resistance

Once fully cured, the adhesive layer resists UV degradation (ASTM G154) for ≥5 years of continuous outdoor exposure, maintaining its inherent flexibility and bond strength without cracking, chalking, or embrittlement. It easily withstands aggressive temperature cycling from -30°C to 80°C without any signs of delamination, making it highly reliable for both climate-controlled environments and extreme outdoor applications. It is chemically resistant to automotive fluids (including engine oil and brake fluid), household cleaners, and saltwater. Additionally, it offers outstanding high-humidity and washdown resistance, ensuring that the seal remains completely impermeable even in industrial facilities requiring frequent pressurized cleaning or prolonged moisture exposure.

Efficient Processing

Applied effortlessly via standard caulking guns, cartridge dispensers, or sophisticated automated application systems, this adhesive offers user-friendly processing with absolutely no mixing required. It develops a tack-free skin within 60–90 minutes, allowing for early handling of assembled parts, while achieving a full structural cure in 24–72 hours at 23°C/50% RH. Its exceptionally high green strength (≥0.5 MPa) enables immediate vertical bonding without sagging or slumping. This rapid initial grab is perfectly adapted for high-tempo automated dispensing lines, eliminating the need for temporary mechanical fasteners during vertical panel assembly and accelerating overall production cycles.

Dynamic Stress Absorption & Post-Processing Compatibility

The cured elastomer acts as a powerful shock absorber within the assembly joint, efficiently dissipating dynamic stress and impact vibrations during continuous machinery operation to prevent bond failure. Beyond its structural capabilities, the cured adhesive layer is fully compatible with secondary finishing processes. The surface readily accepts sanding and painting without compromising the aesthetic design of the final product, allowing the adhesive to blend invisibly into existing manufacturing and coating workflows.

Sustainable Formulation

Select grades of this product contain ≥30% bio-based content derived directly from renewable resources, strongly aligning with modern sustainable manufacturing initiatives. Completely solvent-free and formulated without hazardous ingredients, these adhesives emit ≤5 ppm VOCs, strictly meeting both EU Ecolabel and LEED v4.1 criteria for green building materials. Their exceptionally low environmental impact reduces regulatory compliance burdens and simplifies safety protocols in eco-sensitive industrial applications.

Applications

Building and Construction

  • Window and Door Installation: Effectively seals aluminum or PVC frames directly to insulated glass units (IGUs) and porous masonry substrates. This creates a barrier providing air leakage rates ≤0.1 L/m·s and remarkable water resistance ≥1,000 Pa—critical performance metrics that directly contribute to highly energy-efficient building envelopes and draft-free interiors.
  • Roofing Membrane Bonding: Securely attaches EPDM or TPO roofing membranes to metal decks and rigid insulation boards. The resulting elastomeric bond is highly wind-resistant, possessing the elasticity and strength to withstand severe uplift pressures ≥2 kPa in exposed, high-wind geographical zones.

Consumer Goods Manufacturing

  • Appliance Assembly: Permanently bonds plastic trim, flexible rubber gaskets, and rigid metal components within refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines. It ensures reliable hermetic seals (ASTM E96) that prevent moisture ingress while providing essential vibration damping, resulting in quieter operation and prolonged appliance lifespans.
  • Footwear Production: Expertly attaches rubber or PU soles to leather or textile uppers in heavy-duty athletic and work footwear. The adhesive joint remains highly flexible, withstanding flex fatigue ≥10⁵ cycles without any sign of bond failure—a critical factor for long-term durability in high-use, demanding footwear applications.

Storage

Container Integrity: To maintain optimal performance, the adhesive must be stored in its original airtight aluminum foil pouches or sealed cartridges. The heavy-duty foil packaging is specifically designed to block moisture vapor transmission, preventing ambient humidity from triggering premature curing and unwanted viscosity increases before the product is dispensed.

Optimal Conditions: Facility managers should maintain storage temperatures strictly between 5–25°C, ensuring the surrounding environment retains a relative humidity ≤50%. Adhering to these specific climate controls will preserve the product's functional shelf life for 12–18 months from the original production date, maximizing inventory viability.

Handling Protocols: During active application on the factory floor or construction site, avoid prolonged exposure to high humidity (>60% RH). In enclosed manufacturing spaces, it is highly recommended to use dehumidified air systems to precisely control the cure rate, ensuring the adhesive maintains its smooth paste consistency until the components are properly mated.
